Death By Chocolate!

Happy Halloween everyone! Here's Hami basking in his Halloween spoils. Halloween started last week with our ward's Trunk-or-Treat. It was rainy and cold all day long, so they ended up trick-or-treating around all of the classrooms inside the church. I was in charge of passing out doughnuts and hot chocolate (it's part of my calling, yay) so Dallin took Hami around. Hami slept most of the time, but Dallin loved it! It's tradition for me to come home and count how many pieces of candy I got while trick-or-treating, so naturally when we came home, I dumped Hami's bag out and started counting...53 pieces! Too bad he can't eat any of it...
Look at this kid, only four months old and he already understands the true meaning of Halloween...way to go Hami!
We dressed Hami up as a monkey because Dallin LOVES monkeys! He's so cute! The stomach is padded so he looked like a chunker all night!
I planned this really fun day last Saturday to go to this outdoor mall by our house and go trick-or-treating. They had hayrides, games, costume contests, face painting, and of course candy! I was so excited, but when we woke up it was pouring rain. We decided to try it anyway, but when we got off the metro it was so rainy and windy, that we just stood on the platform and took the next train back to our house. It was such a fun metro ride! This is a picture of Dallin on the platform with Hami, I don't think Hami minded so much!
Last night (on Halloween) we took Hami to White Flint Mall to go trick-or-treating around the stores. I love the fact that they have so many "safe" trick-or-treating spots around here. No more long walks in between houses, we just went store to store and raked in the candy!
This story will prove a lot of people right and hurt my pride just a little, but I will tell it anyway. How many signs do you see on escalators saying "No strollers"? How many times has my mother told me not to use the escalator if I have the stroller? I'll just tell you, too many times! Well, last night I was pushing the stroller around while Dallin carried Hami store to store to get candy. I didn't want to walk all the way to the elevator, so we decided to go down the escalator. No problem right? Hami wasn't in the stroller so I wasn't worried about the fact that it was really narrow and the stroller barely fit! Dallin was in front of me, so at the end of the escalator he walked off and went into a store. Well, when I went to get off, the wheels turned and the stroller got caught at the end. It started falling over sideways and I couldn't get past it, but because I was on the escalator I kept getting pushed into it! I tried to crawl over, but I was wearing my camera and it got caught in the handle of the stroller and started pulling me down! I started yelling for Dallin to help but he couldn't hear me because he was trick-or-treating with Hami! I finally crawled over the side of the stroller and pulled it out, all in the midst of snickering from the people behind me. When Dallin finally caught up with me I was laughing my head off standing there beside the escalator! Moral of the story...lift the front wheels of the stroller when getting off the escalator!
Once again, we plan such fun activities for Hami and what does he do? Sleep!
On a side note, we got to take a tour of the Capitol yesterday as well. A girl in Dallin's class gave us a private tour. This is the room where the original justices met before they moved into the Supreme Court building.
We walked by the Supreme Court building on our way back! I love all of the Greek influence in our buildings.
This is the main rotunda. It weighs something like 9 tons. It's pure steel and do you know what they chose to support it? Sandstone! I didn't stand under it for too long!

This is where Dallin wants to work. If you can't read it, it says "Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi." Looks like the entrance to the dungeon if you ask me...I guess it's just as bad!

Here's Hami sitting with Brother Brigham!

This is the old Senate Chambers. Do you agree that Dallin looks good here?

All in all we had a pretty fun Halloween. I was really worried about being out on the metro late at night (the weirdos come out, which we did see some crazy/scary people!) so we headed home early, watched a chick-flick and ate all of Hami's spoils...it was my kind of Halloween!

I have to admit, the Ute advertisement caught my attention on the right side of your blog? You want to keep things fair and balanced, eh? What next, a Hilary t-shirt?
