Sleep...I remember what that is!

You never know how good something is until you lose it! Dallin and I certainly took for granted our many mornings where we could sleep in, bum around, and just do whatever we wanted to do! Once Hami was born all of that freedom was wiped away.
The first few weeks we took shifts of "sleeping" out on the couch with Hami. What would really happen was that I would take Hami for three hours, while Dallin slept and then wake Dallin up to take Hami. He would then take Hami for three hours while I got to sleep. For some reason the kid just didn't get that nighttime was sleep time. He would just play or scream or whatever he wanted to do. And bless Dallin's heart, but he can't sleep with any noise in the room, so Hami and I would be banished to the couch so Dallin could sleep.
Luckily, after about 2 months of that nonsense Hami started going to bed at 12:30 and wake up at 5:30. Hallelujah! We were so excited! That meant we got five straight hours of sleep, this was gold!
So I know that you are wondering why I am telling you all of this?!? Well, I have to sing the praise of three great books:
*Good Night, Sleep Tight
*Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child
*Baby Wise
Now, I wouldn't recommend any of these books by themselves, but when you mesh all of their suggestions into one, these books can work wonders! I am probably jinxing myself by writing this and Hami will just throw his schedule out of the window, but for now he is on a schedule and it is wonderful.
We start bathing Hami at 8:00, we then feed him, cuddle him for about 10-15 minutes and then put him in his bed whether he is asleep or not and he knows that it is bedtime. He then sleeps until 7 (which I think is partly due to Dallin's alarm clock going off for about five minutes before he turns it off). Then during the day he takes a morning nap for about 2 hours and an evening nap.
I know that this was probably a boring post for those of you who don't have children, but I wanted to write it and give hope to those that have kids that won't sleep, because Dallin and I were about ready to collapse from pure exhaustion! But, as all of you know, Hami is well worth it!

Glad you figured it out. It sure makes a world of difference when they are sleeping well.
